Aaron’s Story
Broken
On August 2nd, 2014, my family and I were at the local motocross track enjoying a practice session for an upcoming race. Due to overjumping the double tabletop on the track, I suffered a compression burst of my T12 vertebrae.
From that moment on, I was paralyzed from the waist down. The next 7 weeks were spent in hospitals and rehabilitation centers as I was just beginning to learn how to live my new “normal” life.
Upon returning home came a big realization that in fact, my life would never be the same again. My new life was not indeed the way it was before. Well, the next 4 years turned out to be the hardest years of my life.
But of course, with a great support system and as time went on, I am alive again.
Alive
After purchasing my RZR in 2019 is truly when I realized that I would be able to still teach my kids and get them out in nature in the same way I was able to before my accident.
Since than I have had the wonderful opportunities to go camping, RZR riding, fishing, hunting, and many adventures outdoors, including a weeklong trip to Moab, Utah in March 2021.
As we are on the way home from Utah, while listening to “Say I Won’t”, by MercyMe, it hit me, how truly blessed I am to have supportive friends and family, and the financial ability to go on trips like this.
Without that I could not experience nature in way we just did.
Living
On March 20th, 2021, Say We Won’t Outdoors became a vision.
From that moment on I knew I needed to figure out how I could get people with disabilities to be outdoors and go on trips.
So, they can be able to enjoy the same areas that I have been able to enjoy. Now we are turning a dream it into a reality.
Our life is waiting for us to live, and not just be alive!
We want to help change the mindset for ALL people with disabilities to LIVE life again.
